It's that time of year again—Baltimore’s students will soon be heading back to school. As a working mother, I know how hard it can be to find enough time to prepare our kids for the school year. That is why each year I am so excited to host my annual Back to School Rally. 

The rally provides a one-stop shop for fun and games, as well as the necessities our young people need to start the school year off right. From noon to 3pm at the War Memorial Plaza, directly in front of City Hall, we will be providing FREE school supplies and immunizations. 

As Mayor, I know the foundation of a growing city has to be an education system that says every child matters, regardless of what neighborhood they call home. We have to fight for our young people and show them how much we care. 

In addition to annual events like the Back to School Rally, my Administration successfully secured an historic $1 billion investment to build new schools and renovate others. 

This year, I was also pleased to announce an additional $4 million investment into out-of-school-time funding so that our kids continue to get the support they need outside of the classroom as well. Tomorrow is another opportunity to show our young people how much we care. I hope to see you there. 

Together we can make this school year our best yet!
