Yosef Kebede was appointed as Director of the Department of Public Works. He most recently served as Baltimore’s Chief of the Water and Wastewater in the Department of Public Works. As Bureau Head, he led an organization of 1,200 employees and six divisions responsible for delivering water, sewer, and stormwater services for the region. He has 22 years of experience in the water/wastewater and infrastructure development sector. During this time, Yosef has built a reputation for participatory leadership that has elevated team members through personal and professional development. Yosef has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Science, both from Stanford University. He also has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with an International focus from the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. His appointment is effective April 10, 2023.
