Meetings Will Connect Communities Across Baltimore With Acting Commissioner

BALTIMORE, MD. (Tuesday, July 25, 2023) - Mayor Brandon M. Scott, alongside Acting Commissioner Richard Worley of the Baltimore Police Department, announced the planned dates for a series of community meetings to coincide with the City Council confirmation process. 

These town hall-style meetings – in conjunction with numerous roundtables with City Councilmembers, community leaders, and organizations – will provide community members from across Baltimore the opportunity to meet with Acting Commissioner Worley, hear his vision for the future of BPD, and voice their concerns about public safety issues. 

“Ensuring Baltimoreans have this opportunity to meet with and hear from the Acting Police Commissioner is a critical part of this process,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “These community meetings are designed to ensure Baltimoreans in every part of the city are able to take the opportunity – both in-person or virtually – to connect with Acting Commissioner Worley, hear directly from him, and share with him their concerns about public safety in our city. These meetings are a vitally important step needed to help Baltimore residents build trust and a direct relationship with Acting Commissioner Worley.”

“Holding these community meetings and having the opportunity to talk to residents from all across the city is one of the most important parts of this process,” said Acting Commissioner Worley. “Since the beginning of my time in leadership positions within BPD, I have made a point of prioritizing and strengthening my personal ties with community leaders and residents. I know how crucially important that direct connection is. I plan to approach being Commissioner the same way. These community events will serve as the foundation of my relationship with Baltimore’s residents in my new role. I can’t wait to get started and hear from each and every person who takes part in this process.”

There will be a series of seven community meetings in various parts of the City, including one virtual meeting, and two Telephone Town Halls, with one specifically catered to older adults. The schedule includes:
