Community Members Can Call 311 to Register for the Mayor's Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 22, 2023
BALTIMORE, MD. (Thursday, March 23, 2023) - Spring is here! So, let's get ready to tackle some Spring cleaning by signing up for Mayor Brandon M. Scott's Spring Cleanup! Mayor Scott and Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Jason W. Mitchell, Ed.D., encourage residents to organize now and join efforts to clean and beautify their neighborhoods for the Mayor's Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To fortify this year's Spring Cleanup efforts, Mayor Scott will be armed with a team of volunteer-led cleaning crews and DPW solid waste workers to visit communities around the city facing cleaning challenges.
"The Mayor's Spring Clean Up is the time of the year where we connect our love for our City with our charitable hands to clean and beautify their communities," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "Residents can work together to not only clean and beautify where they live, they can roll up their sleeves to assist other communities facing cleaning challenges."
Community associations, block leaders, volunteers, and organizations throughout the city can call 311 to register their cleaning activities. Participants who register their cleaning activities can request that City trucks visit their locations to collect debris.
"The Department of Public Works is always eager to advance Mayor Scott's vision for clean and healthy neighborhoods across Baltimore City. Keeping our city clean and beautiful is at the heart of DPW's mission as a department, and we are excited to continue supporting the tradition of this annual initiative," said DPW Director Jason Mitchell. "DPW is always looking for opportunities to partner with community organizations and residents around cleaning our great city, and we encourage everyone to sign up for this year's cleanup efforts."
To volunteer at a predetermined location, please visit https://mayor.baltimorecity.gov/sign-form-day-service. In addition, during this citywide day of cleaning, individual residents are welcome to clean where they live by cleaning up loose litter around their properties, alleyways, and curbsides.
DPW will provide 50 trash bags to registered community groups with 10 or more participants and five trash bags to those registering individually. All participants must register through 311 and be prepared to provide their 311 issued SR number upon pickup. Starting Monday, March 27, 2023, registered volunteers can begin picking up their trash bags at the following DPW locations: 2840 Sisson St. or 111 Kane St. from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Residents can request stormwater credit applications when calling 311 to register their cleaning.
In addition, trash and debris can be bagged and placed out with weekly scheduled trash collections for pickup. Residents can also bring bagged trash to the Residential Drop-Off Centers. Participants who are disposing of collected debris at the Residential Drop-off Centers must follow the drop-off centers' guidelines, which do not allow commercial vehicles.
Unfortunately, no household bulk trash items will be collected, and roll-off dumpsters will not be distributed as part of this year's Spring Cleanup. Residents who want to clear out bulk items from their households are encouraged to call 311 to schedule a bulk collection of up to three items.
