Rawlings-Blake Honors Baltimore's Top Neighborhood Dads

Eighth Annual Luncheon Recognizes Baltimore Men Committed to Communities

BALTIMORE, Md. (June 10, 2014)—Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake hosted her 8th annual Baltimore's Top Neighborhood Dads luncheon at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, where she honored 25 winners. The Baltimore's Top Neighborhood Dads contest honors strong and dedicated Baltimore men, who play an active role in making their communities better, safer, and stronger.

"It takes a tremendous amount of strength and dedication to remain focused on your family, your career, and your community" said Mayor Rawlings-Blake. "By doing what is right—by mentoring young people, cleaning their neighborhoods, helping neighbors in need, or any number of other good deeds—the men honored today add to the quality of life in our growing city. I truly appreciate the commitment they share for the communities they serve."

Nominations were submitted by community associations throughout Baltimore City. Baltimore's Top Neighborhood Dads are not necessarily fathers themselves, but have given fatherly love for their neighborhoods by working to improve the quality of life within their communities.

WBAL-TV News anchor Jason Newton served as master of ceremonies for the event. Baltimore Gas and Electric Chief Executive Officer Calvin G. Butler Jr. delivered the keynote address. At the luncheon, winners were presented with a citation from Mayor Rawlings-Blake.
