Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young Announces Extension of Deadline for Filing Financial Disclosures
Monday Apr 6th, 2020
BALTIMORE, MD. — On Friday, Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young signed an executive order extending the deadline for City employees to file financial disclosure forms. Mayor Young issued the following statement:
“After reviewing the State’s executive order requiring nonessential employees to remain home, I wanted to make sure all of our staff have adequate time to review and file these forms in an accurate and timely manner,” Mayor Young said.
The executive order changes the deadline to July 15 or 30 days after the State’s stay at home executive order is lifted, whichever is later.
“While the Board believes that filing annual financial disclosure statements is necessary for a transparent and ethical City government, we are in the midst of an unprecedented crisis and believe that the interests served by filing disclosures can be achieved after the crisis has subsided,” Baltimore City Ethics Board Chair Lu Pierson said. “We are thankful that the Mayor took this action to provide some peace of mind for City employees during these difficult times.”
