Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts announced continued reductions in violent crime, gun crime, and overall crime in 2012. Throughout the year, 1,812 fewer people were victims of crime in Baltimore — including 416 fewer victims of violent crime. The city also experienced continued declines in several serious categories including juvenile homicides, domestic violence, property crime, and robbery. Overall violent crime declined 5% over last year—a more than 45% decrease since 2000 and a 7% decrease since 2009. Non-fatal shootings have declined 2% to the lowest point since the City began tracking them in 2000. “We will not be satisfied until Baltimore becomes one of the safest big cities in America,” said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake

Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development announced Board of Estimates approval of a “local jobs” Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CBAC (Caesars Entertainment) in conjunction with the construction of a new Caesars Horseshoe Casino in South Baltimore.
