Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
Board Information
Name | Criminal Justice Coordinating Council |
Function | For the purpose of identifying cross-cutting criminal and juvenile justice issues, promoting systemwide accountability to implement coordinated solutions, and facilitating cooperation that will improve public safety and delivery of justice-related services. CJCCs break down silos and foster a systems perspective among criminal justice agencies from different branches and levels of government. Formerly convened by the Governor’s Office and later re-established at the local level in 2021 by Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the CJCC provides a much-needed forum for interagency partnership and discussion of urgent matters regarding violent crime. The group works together to share timely information and develop collaborative measures to build a safer Baltimore on a regular basis. The CJCC and respective agencies have pursued cross-cutting goals, such as the fair and timely disposition of cases, bringing swift justice to those accused of crimes, and evaluating practices and procedures for effectiveness. |
