Chief of Operations
Pete Hammen represented the 46th legislative district in the Maryland House of Delegates from January 1995 to December 2016. He served on the Environmental Matters Committee 1995-2003 (chair, health subcommittee, 1999-2003) and the Health and Government Operations Committee (vice-chair, 2003-2005; chair, 2005-2016). While a member of the state legislature, Pete received numerous awards for his work and expertise on guiding health policy.
Pete joined the administration of Mayor Catherine E. Pugh in December 2016 and serves as Chief of Operations. His portfolio includes the Department of General Services, Department of Housing and Community Development, Housing Authority of Baltimore City, Department of Planning, Department of Public Works, Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Environment Control Board, among other responsibilities. Pete also serves on numerous boards and commissions including the Parks and People Foundation, Central Baltimore Partnership, Waterfront Partnership, Mayor’s Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission, and the Maryland Crisis Stabilization Center Pilot Implementation Board.
Pete holds a B.S. and a M.P.A. from the University of Baltimore. He lives in Brewer’s Hill with his wife Michelle.
