Director, Department of Transportation
Ms. Pourciau has a long and distinguished career in the Transportation industry with over 30 years of experience.
She spent 22 years with the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Public Works, where she assumed progressively responsible assignments culminating in her appointment as Director of the agency.
Ms. Pourciau went on to manage the D.C. photo enforcement program from an operational, performance, strategic, and business development perspective. She later served as the Vice President of a prominent Washington, DC engineering firm where she established the national Transportation Practice, which grew to provide construction and program management services for major roadway and transit projects. Ms. Pourciau also established the Mid-Atlantic office of a Midwest engineering firm that grew to include contracting capacity with DDOT, DC Water, WSSC and other Federal, local and private clients. Ms. Pourciau started her career as a Transportation Planner at the Fairfax County, Virginia Department of Transportation.
As Baltimore’s Director of Transportation, Ms. Pourciau’s mission is simple, to provide the City with a safe and sustainable multi-modal transportation system. Ms. Pourciau aims to accomplish this mission by enhancing transit, bicycle and pedestrian accessibility options, through a coordinated transportation planning and asset management process and implementation program.
Ms. Pourciau has spent considerable time in academia. Her pursuits have resulted in both undergraduate and graduate degrees from prestigious universities such as the University of Michigan as well as Howard University. She also studied at Harvard University completing the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Programs, which allows seasoned public officials to better address the concerns of their constituents and communities. Ms. Pourciau is a Certified Public Manager and has completed the Eno Center for Transportation Leadership. She has served and assumed leadership roles on numerous boards and commissions.
Ms. Pourciau and her husband are new Baltimore residents. She has one adult son.
