Remaining Task Force Members Selected and Councilwoman Odette Ramos Named Chair, Additional Meetings Announced

BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, October 21, 2025) - Yesterday, Mayor Brandon M. Scott's office held the first meeting of his Sisson Street Task Force. The task force began its work to make a recommendation to the Mayor about the future of the Sisson Street Drop Off Center. During the meeting, task force members elected Councilwoman Odette Ramos as chair and confirmed the meeting schedule. The next meeting will take place, October 27, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. in City Council Chambers, where public testimony will be received.

"I am grateful to all of the members of this taskforce for participating in this process, which will help us determine the future of the Sisson Street site," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "This is about meeting the needs of our residents, protecting our DPW workers, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our neighborhoods and environment. I'm confident that we're in good hands with the taskforce, which includes Council representatives, stakeholders, and community members, and look forward to hearing their recommendation to me."

"The Sisson Street transfer station has been an important working part of our waste management system over the course of its life so far," said Deputy Mayor Kahlil Zaeid. "As we examine the future needs of our city, our waste management system, and the surrounding community, it is important that we weigh our options and hear the community's feedback to decide the final outcome of this site."

"I am honored to work with local residents and stakeholders in the area to make sure we account for environmental, safety, and working conditions when working through this important decision," said Councilwoman Odette Ramos, Chair of the Sisson Street Task Force. "The Sisson Street center is one of the most popular sites in the city, so it is important we truly make a decision that considers everyone."

The Task Force will be sworn in by Mayor Scott on November 3rd, and meet on the following dates. They will take public testimony during some of these meetings and hear from stakeholder groups invited by the Task Force.

• October 27th, 7:00 P.M., City Council Chambers - public testimony will be received
• November 10th, 7:00 P.M., Curran Room at City Hall.
• November 24th
• December 8th
• December 22nd
