After Emergency Operations Closed Some Routes, Roadways Will Begin To Reopen Tonight At 7:00 P.M.; Harbor Connector Route #1 Will Resume Normal Operations On Monday Morning

BALTIMORE, MD (Sunday, June 8, 2025) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Department of Transportation (BCDOT) Director Veronica P. McBeth announced that roadways currently closed in Harbor East due to the diesel spill will reopen this evening. Significant progress has been made in the clean-up effort, allowing for the footprint of remaining work to be scaled back.

In preparation for Monday morning's peak hour travel time, all roadways in Harbor East that have been closed due to the emergency operations relating to the diesel spill will begin to reopen at 7:00 p.m. this evening, Sunday, June 8, 2025. This includes the reopening of Central Avenue between Lancaster and Point Streets.

Normal Harbor Connector operations, which were temporarily disrupted to accommodate ongoing mitigation work, will resume tomorrow morning. This includes the previously closed Harbor Connector Route 1 from Maritime Park (Landing 8) to Locust Point (Landing 10). Service along this route is available 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (weather permitting) and operates on a 15-minute frequency. Harbor Connector Routes 2 and 3 will also continue to operate on their normal routes and times.

Connector patrons are encouraged to sign up for text alerts or visit the Harbor Connector website for additional information.
