City-Sponsored National Night Out Tentatively Rescheduled for Tuesday, August 13

BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, August 5, 2024) - Based on the recommendation of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and in the interest of residents' safety, in consultation with the National Weather Service, today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced that National Night Out 2024 for Baltimore City will be rescheduled for Tuesday, August 13, due to severe weather anticipated for tomorrow, August 6. 

A cold front is expected to drop southward toward the Baltimore area from Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. As the front interacts with tropical moisture ahead of Tropical Storm Debby, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding may be possible. 

OEM will continue to monitor the forecast for tomorrow and the rest of the week as Tropical Storm Debby continues to impact the Atlantic coast. For the latest updates from the National Weather Service, please visit weather.gov/lwx. 

"In light of anticipated severe weather starting the afternoon tomorrow, August 6, and in the interest of the safety of our residents, the City of Baltimore is postponing all City-sponsored National Night Out events," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "We are asking all community organizations who have planned events for tomorrow to join us next Tuesday, August 13, for Baltimore's rescheduled National Night Out. The spirit of National Night Out is about building community connections between residents and the law enforcement personnel that serve them. We're making the decision to reschedule out of an abundance of caution to ensure that everyone is able to do so while also remaining safe during this forecasted severe weather. " 

As a reminder, residents are encouraged to report downed trees, signal outages, or other storm related requests by calling 311 or via the 311 app. Additionally, residents experiencing a power outage or seeking to report a downed wire, should call 877.778.2222.
