Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, Department of Public Works Announce Phase I of Reservoir Reopenings

BALTIMORE, MD.  — Today, Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young and the Department of Public Works announced Phase I reopening of certain activities at Liberty, Loch Raven, and Prettyboy reservoirs, as long as residents continue practicing social distancing. Mayor Young issued the following statement:

“These activities will allow residents to get outside and get exercise, but we still need residents to practice social distancing while doing so,” Mayor Young said.

The Phase I reopenings will allow the following activities to resume at the reservoirs, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020:

  • Hiking
  • Biking
  • Kayaking
  • Fishing from the bank
  • Boating
  • Horseback riding

Fishing from platforms will remain closed, and pedestrian activity on Loch Raven Drive remains suspended on weekends. All watershed regulations will be enforced. Boating and fishing registrations and permitting must be current.
