EXECUTIVE ORDER 

SAFER CITY BUILDINGS

WHEREAS, government officials throughout the nation have appropriately manifested increased attention to issues of public safety in places of public assembly;

WHEREAS, Baltimore City has made every effort to make each City building safe and open to the public;

WHEREAS, the City desires a more efficient visitor log for City buildings  to ensure that the City knows what members of the public are in a building so that officials can better assist them in exiting those buildings in a time of emergency;

WHEREAS, the City will collect, utilize and retain information from visitors for only that amount of time that is necessary to maintain building security and the safety of the pubic and employees in City buildings;

NOW THEREFORE, I, CATHERINE PUGH, Mayor of the City of Baltimore, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby issue this Executive Order:

BE IT ORDERED THAT THE CITY SHALL IMPLEMENT AN EFFICIENT SYSTEM OF IDENTIFICATION FOR VISITORS TO DESIGNATED CITY BUILDINGS THAT MAXIMIZES THE SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS IN THE BUILDING AND THAT COLLECTS ONLY INFORMATION ABOUT VISITORS THAT IS REASONABLY NECESSARY TO ENSURE SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS.
