BALTIMORE, Md. (July 2, 2014)—Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake released the following statement regarding the passing of Wayne Curry:

"I was truly saddened to learn of Wayne Curry's passing today. A close friend and mentor, Mr. Curry was a dedicated public servant who laid the foundation to make Prince George's County the strong, prosperous county it is today. He was a bold, visionary leader who worked tirelessly to break down racial barriers and promote economic prosperity for all Marylanders. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act and the 150th anniversary of emancipation in Maryland this year, Wayne will be in my thoughts. He will be truly missed."
